BEERATO: Spain sells cheapest alcohol in the whole eurozone

SPAIN sells the cheapest alcohol in the eurozone, according to research by the EU’s statistics office Eurostat.

The price of alcoholic beverages in Spain was 84% of the median price across the whole EU, making it the cheapest of any country using the Euro.

Outside of the eurozone, only four countries have cheaper alcohol: Czech Republic (82%); Hungary (77%); and Bulgaria and Romania (74%).

The most expensive countries in the eurozone were Finland (182%), followed by Ireland (177%) and Sweden (152%).

Meanwhile outside of the eurozone, the United Kingdom was the priciest, with costs reaching 204% of the European mean.
